Salt Therapy for Kids

Who can deny that children are precious? We go to great lengths to protect them and keep them safe and happy, so our hearts ache to see a child with watery eyes and a big, red nose because they have a bad cold and cannot breathe adequately. To see a child suffer, as they puff on their inhaler or scream because their skin is burning in pain, is heart-wrenching. We have personally known children in these severe states of sickness and so we have created our Family Salt Room just for them. Kids are more at risk for skin and lung issues than adults, due to their immature lungs, immune systems and brains at birth. Fortunately, Dry Salt Therapy for children can significantly help to: – reduce the need for inhalers & antibiotics – make breathing easier – improve lung function – alleviate sneezing, coughing & shortness of breath – clear mucus & sticky phlegm from the lungs – strengthen the immune system – improve sleep patterns – improve general health & quality of life Our Family Salt Room is a playful, healing space custom-designed to meet the needs of young families. Just being in this space brings peace of […]

Salt & Sauna for Stress Relief

By Nicole, a Breathe employee: Here at Breathe Salt & Sauna, we talk a lot about how much our services can reduce and/or eliminate the symptoms of asthma, allergies, viruses, flu illnesses, arthritis, inflammation, stress disorders, et cetera. Are the therapies at Breathe Salt & Sauna mainly for people suffering from specific conditions? NO! Everyone can benefit from the detoxification and stress reduction provided by our salt and heat therapies. In this modern world where we are inundated with environmental hazards and hectic daily schedules, we could all use a break and a boost to our immune systems. Time for relaxation has never been as needed as it is today. According to the American Institute of Stress, 77% of people in the U.S. regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress and 33% are living with extreme stress. I think we can agree that stress is all too common in our modern life. Since we opened in April of 2018, we have been tracking the reasons people visit. The results are not surprising. Overwhelmingly, the number-one reason people visit Breathe is to reduce stress. Stress Reduction Through Infrared Sauna Therapy Fortunately, through our services we offer significant relief. Just a few […]

Benefits of a Breathe Membership

There are many reasons to consider a membership at Breathe Salt & Sauna.  The main reason?  To live a healthier life!  The infrared sauna and the salt bring many healing benefits to the body.  Through our skin and lungs, our bodies absorb toxins throughout the day from everywhere through the pollutants around us and even through the foods we eat.  The sauna and salt combined help eliminate those toxins from the body.  Too many toxins can cause health issues and break down our bodies over time. Maybe you suffer from respiratory conditions.   Breathing in salt can help relieve respiratory symptoms.  If you suffer from allergies, it is best to build up your immune system by doing salt sessions before the onset of allergy session.  Then your body stands a better chance of getting through the allergy season with less suffering. Maybe you are suffering from overload and stress.  Doing a sauna session rejuvenates your body and gives it what it is craving – REST!  We all get caught up in the speed of life, and we struggle to take time to care for ourselves.  It is vital to de-stress our bodies.  Stress causes inflammation and inflammation causes illness.   The good news is it only […]

Adventures in Salt Mining

Poland was not on our bucket list, but when the Salt Therapy Association sent us an invitation to the 2019 Salt Therapy Association Symposium at the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland, we thought it would be an excellent opportunity to learn about the history of salt therapy and its healing benefits so we could bring back and share what we learned with you. This was our first Salt Therapy Association event.  What an incredible time to be in this industry!  In addition to learning more about this industry and the history, we were able to come together and start setting standards to make sure when other facilities are claiming they have salt therapy, that they truly do.  We met people from all over the world, and it was neat to hear how others were running their businesses.  The food served at the Symposium was amazing.  I loved it!  Jon, on the other hand, could not wait to get back to American food.  On our last night we attended a Celebration Dinner & Folklore Music Show.  The musicians and dancers made sure we ALL danced and, yes, that included Jon.  Again, we are so very blessed to be a part of such a great organization. The Historic Wieliczka Salt […]

Salt Therapy FAQs

Since opening last April these are the most frequently asked questions at Breathe Salt and Sauna. Can I catch other peoples’ germs or viruses in the Salt Rooms? Salt is naturally antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory. It kills almost all bacteria on contact.  At Breathe Salt & Sauna, we have pure Himalayan salt brick walls and crushed salt on the floor, in addition to the 99.9% pure pharmaceutical-grade salt that is blown into the air.  The microclimate of our salt room is said to be two times cleaner than a sterile surgery roomin a hospital.  Therefore, it is nearly impossible to catch an infection because there is no bacteria.  We also clean the surfaces of our chairs, tables, toys, books, et cetera, with dōTERRA’s OnGuard Sanitizing Spray. How long is a Salt Session? Our Adult Meditation Room and Family Room Sessions are 45 minutes.  Our Salt Booth Sessions are just 15 minutes. The smaller booth room size allows for the same amount of salt to be inhaled in an express session, offering the same benefits of the larger room. How should I dress? In the Salt Room, you can wear your regular street clothes.  Keep in mind that dark clothes will show the salt […]

Asthma & Allergies: Jon’s Story

I am Jon Adams, my wife Laurie and I own Breathe Salt and Sauna in Johnson Creek. I suffer from allergies and asthma and have all of my life. When I was younger, I needed to undergo Cortizone shots to get my allergies and asthma under control. I had a nebulizer, (breathing machine) took prescription medications, and used inhalers as well. I would try anything to bring relief. My mother would put me in the shower for long periods of time letting the steam open my airways. I did not like to be outdoors, and cutting the grass was out of the question. My allergies and asthma have improved as the years have gone by, or maybe I have just adapted better to it. Regardless, I still suffer. In October of 2017, Laurie was doing some research and told me about Salt Therapy (Halotherapy). I thought, how can that work? Well, in November my Asthma acted up like it always does in the fall of the year. I knew I needed to go in for a breathing treatment because I was losing lung capacity. I remembered what Laurie was telling me about Halotherapy and decided to try that first. At […]
